Case study · East at Home

Mix, match and watch the savings grow.

East at Home sells restaurant-style curry sauces and spice kits. We rebuilt the store, then kept improving it: shoppers build their own bundle, see the saving at every step, and get a nudge towards free delivery in the basket.

Recorded on the live store: five sauces picked in the bundle builder, a side added, and the basket counting down to free delivery

The brief

A full rebuild for a brand with bold new packaging, then a steady run of changes aimed at bigger baskets, on a store where more than half the visits come from phones.

What we built

What shoppers can do.

Each one recorded on the live store: the bundle builder on a desktop, the rest at phone size.

01Bundle builder

Any sauces, any mix.

Pick as many of each sauce as you like. The saving tiers fill as the count goes up, at 3, 5 and 10, so shoppers can see what one more sauce is worth.

02Multibuy

The saving, before they add.

One, three or ten packs, with the discount on each button. Pick one and the price, the saving and the cost per pack change straight away.

03Free delivery

A basket that shows the finish line.

The basket says how far off free delivery is. Add one more and the bar fills, the message changes, and the multibuy discount moves up a tier on its own.

04Add to basket

Always one tap away.

Scroll down a product page, past the details and the reviews, and the add to basket button stays in view at the top of the screen.

Under the hood

Small changes, built to add up.

The store was rebuilt from scratch, then improved a piece at a time. Each piece is about the basket: what goes in it, and how much.

01

A bundle builder

The problem
A fixed bundle makes shoppers take a set they didn’t choose.
What we built
A builder on the product page with a plus and minus for every sauce, saving tiers that fill as the count rises, and a summary of everything picked. The bundle goes into the basket as one line, with its contents listed underneath.
What it means
Shoppers build their own box and see the saving before they commit.
02

Multibuys the basket agrees with

The problem
A multibuy only works if the price in the basket matches the one on the product page.
What we built
Pack choices on every product page showing each discount, and a basket that applies the matching multipack discount and moves it up a tier as the quantity changes.
What it means
The price a shopper sees before adding is the price they see in the basket.
03

A nudge at the right moment

The problem
The moment something goes in the basket is the best time to suggest what goes with it.
What we built
A short “Make it a meal” step after add to basket, with sides to add in one tap, and a free delivery bar in the basket that counts down to the threshold.
What it means
More reasons to add one more thing, without a pop-up in the way while browsing.

How an order flows through it
  1. 01

A shopper picks a pack size, or builds a mixed bundle, and sees the saving before adding.

  2. 02

Add to basket opens a “Make it a meal” step with sides to add in one tap.

  3. 03

The basket applies the multipack discount for the quantity and lists what is inside each bundle.

  4. 04

A bar shows how far off free delivery is, and confirms it once it is reached.

  5. 05

    Checkout is Shopify’s own.
