Services · Shopify subscriptions

Shopify subscriptions that run themselves.

For direct-to-consumer brands that sell by subscription. We build the whole journey on Shopify: the quiz that picks the first box, the subscription app behind it, and the small services that keep delivery dates and orders right, so nobody in the office does it by hand.

Recorded on Fuzzball’s live store: type your cat’s name on the home page, answer a few questions, and the trial box and monthly plan are built for you

Built for Fuzzball, a UK cat food subscription, and looked after since 2025.

How it works

From the first box to every box after.

  1. 01

    The way in

A quiz or a builder that picks the first box for the shopper. Fuzzball’s asks a few questions about each cat, then builds a trial box and a monthly plan.

  2. 02

    The subscription behind it

Recharge runs the subscriptions. Around it we build the small services that keep delivery dates and orders right, so nobody in the office fixes them by hand.

  3. 03

    Measured once it’s live

A dashboard joins each quiz step to real orders and marks each release, so you can see where shoppers drop out and which change moved it.

Questions

What subscription brands ask us.

Which subscription app do you use?
So far, Recharge. Fuzzball’s subscriptions run on it, and around it we built the quiz, a webhook service that sets each first delivery date, and a Shopify Flow step that fulfils the lines that don’t ship. White-label, we’ve built Recharge’s Subscribe and Save options into a brand’s new product pages.
Can shoppers change their box before they pay?
Yes. On Fuzzball the quiz builds a trial box and a monthly plan, and shoppers can add or take out food before paying, with the total updating as they go and a note as soon as the plan qualifies for free delivery.
What happens when a product runs out?
On Fuzzball each flavour has one setting: on offer, held back, or hidden. Hidden takes a flavour out of the quiz, the trial box and the monthly box, and tops saved boxes back up from the other flavours. The team changes it themselves, with no code change.
Can one order cover more than one subscription?
Yes. On Fuzzball a household with two cats answers the quiz for each, and each cat gets their own trial box and plan, in one order.
Can shoppers choose when the first box arrives?
Yes. On Fuzzball the shopper picks the day their first full box ships, on the way to checkout. Our service moves the new subscription to that day, or to 12 days out if they leave it.
How do we know if it’s working?
Fuzzball’s dashboard reads real Shopify orders and keeps a snapshot each night, so every change is judged on what shoppers actually did.
