Services · Custom Shopify apps

Apps for what a theme can’t do.

For brands whose store needs a job done that no theme setting or app store app can do. We build small custom apps and services around Shopify and the apps you already run, set them up to run on their own, and look after them once they’re live.

Recorded on Fuzzball’s live store: press Checkout and pick the day your first full box ships

Fuzzball’s apps run on Recharge, Shopify Flow and Vercel, and we look after them now they’re live.

The apps

Five apps, each doing one job.

Three for Fuzzball, and two built white-label for agencies, whose brands stay unnamed. Each flow shows what the shopper does and what the app does.

01Fuzzball · Webhook service

A first delivery date the shopper picks.

On Fuzzball, the shopper picks the day their first full subscription box ships, on the way to checkout. Our service listens to Recharge, the subscription app, and moves each new subscription to that day, or to 12 days out if the shopper leaves it. It replaced an older integration that set a fixed date.

Live since May 2026. The recording at the top of this page is its date picker.

  1. ShopperPicks the day the first full box ships
  2. ShopifyKeeps the date on the order
  3. RechargeReports the new subscription order
  4. Our serviceMoves the subscription’s next box to that day

02Fuzzball · Embedded Shopify app, now Shopify Flow

Orders that clear their own free lines.

Each first order carries plan items, priced at £0.00, that don’t ship in the trial box. We built an embedded Shopify app that marks those lines fulfilled as soon as the order is ready, reading subscription discounts correctly so nothing that should ship is skipped. Since July 2026 a Shopify Flow workflow we set up does the same job inside Shopify.

App from October 2025, Shopify Flow since July 2026

  1. ShopperPays for a trial box and starts a plan
  2. ShopifyCreates the order, with the plan lines that don’t ship yet
  3. Our app, now FlowFinds the lines at £0.00 and marks them fulfilled
  4. WarehouseSees only what goes in the box

03Fuzzball · Dashboard

A dashboard over every quiz step.

An app of its own for Fuzzball’s team: it reads the store’s orders with read-only access, joins them to every step of the quiz, keeps a snapshot each night and marks each release. Its numbers are Fuzzball’s own, so we describe it rather than show it.

Live since July 2026

  1. ShopperAnswers the quiz, and each step is counted
  2. ShopifyTakes the order
  3. Our dashboardJoins quiz steps to real orders
  4. The teamSees where shoppers drop out, and which release moved it

04White-label · Quiz capture

Quiz answers saved on the customer.

For a brand we build for through an agency: a product quiz that saves each shopper’s answers and best match onto their Shopify customer record as tags, including shoppers already on the list. Marketing consent is only ever added, never taken away, and the team sees the answers on a dashboard.

  1. ShopperFinishes the quiz and leaves an email
  2. Our serviceFinds the Shopify customer, or creates one
  3. Our serviceSaves the answers and the best match as tags
  4. The teamSees the answers on a dashboard

05White-label · Enquiry capture

Every enquiry kept in Shopify.

For a clinic brand we build for through an agency: each enquiry from the site becomes a Shopify customer, with the consent given and tags for what was asked about, alongside the lead in the practice’s own booking system. If that system turns an enquiry away, the enquiry is kept in Shopify and flagged for the team.

  1. VisitorSends an enquiry from the site
  2. Booking systemGets the lead
  3. Our serviceSaves a Shopify customer, with consent and tags
  4. The teamFinds any refused enquiry, flagged in Shopify

How it works

From a job done by hand to one that runs itself.

  1. 01

We check it needs an app

Often a theme setting, Shopify Flow or an app already on the store can do the job, and we’ll say so. When nothing can, we build a small app or service that does.

  2. 02

Built to run on its own

Each one does its job without anyone doing it by hand. On Fuzzball, nobody in the office edits subscription dates or clears order lines.

  3. 03

Swapped out when something simpler can do it

Fuzzball’s fulfilment app ran from October 2025. In July 2026 a Shopify Flow workflow we set up took over the same job inside Shopify.

Questions

What owners ask about custom apps.

Do we need a custom app?
Not always. Thameen London’s gift with purchase runs on the theme and standard discounts, with no app. Fuzzball’s fulfilment started as an app and now runs as a Shopify Flow workflow. We build an app when nothing already on the store can do the job.
Can it work with the apps we already use?
Yes. Fuzzball’s first delivery service works with Recharge, the subscription app the store already ran: Recharge reports each new order, and the service sets the date.
Will it see our customer data?
Only what the job needs. Fuzzball’s quiz dashboard reads orders with read-only access, so it can’t change anything in the store.
How do we know it works?
Each one is checked on real orders before it’s left to run. On Fuzzball, once the old integration was switched off, the next four new subscriptions, on 29 May 2026, all landed on the right date.
