Each post is one problem we’ve dug into on a store we build or look after: the symptom, why it happens, the fix step by step, and how to check it worked.
- Theme push succeeded but changes don’t showThe push went through, GitHub has the commit, and the store still shows the old version. Shopify checks each file on upload and quietly skips any it rejects, and one rejected section takes every template that uses it down too. Where to see the errors, and the rules that caught us.
- Product recommendations full of products with most sizes sold outThe carousel never shows a sold-out product, and the team still says it’s full of out-of-stock items. Recommendation tools hide a product only when nothing is left. Filter on how many sizes are in stock instead, with a setting the team controls.
- Hero image stays blank until the whole page has loadedThe homepage banner is the last thing to appear, even though its image downloaded early. Often the slideshow’s script hides the first slide until it starts, and waits for every image and app on the page before it does. How to make the first slide paint on its own.

- Store slow on phones: videos you can’t see are still downloadingA page that looks light can pull tens of megabytes on a phone. A desktop video hidden on mobile, one inside a closed menu, or one the editor was told to swap for an image can all still download. How to find them, and make each one wait until it’s seen.
- ‘Default Title’ shows under products in the cart drawerProducts with no sizes or colours show “Default Title” in the cart drawer, often only after something is added. Where the name comes from, why a reload hides it, and the check that removes it everywhere.
- Klaviyo profile properties missing when the page redirects straight afterQuiz answers or other custom properties reach some Klaviyo profiles and not others. If your code sends them a moment before the page moves on, to checkout or a thank-you page, the browser can drop the request. How to send them so they arrive.
- Compare-at price disappears when you change sizeThe sale price and the crossed-out price show when the page loads, then the crossed-out price vanishes as soon as a shopper picks another size. Why the page and its script disagree, and how to make them use the same check.
